"Armed with
this understanding, you will shatter your karmic bonds. On this path no
effort is wasted, no gain is ever reversed. Even a little of this
practice will shelter you from great sorrow.”
—The Bhagavad-Gita

For as long as I can remember, I have been on a journey of spiritual
exploration and discovery. As you well know, it’s a journey that
inevitably leads to some pretty incredible discoveries about how the
world beyond the senses works. One of the lessons that has shaped my own
life is the power of surrender.
In
The Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita: Every Person’s Guide to the
All-Time Spiritual Classic, I share some of the most significant and
Divinely charged passages from the ancient text of the Bhagavad-Gita.
Once you hear what these classic lines reveal about who God is and what
God’s plan for you really is, you will undoubtedly be tempted to
contemplate them, analyze them, perhaps even debate them. I highly
encourage you to do all three. Engage this information in any way that
feels right and natural. The Bhagavad-Gita has survived 6,000 years of
humankind’s study, skepticism, and probing precisely because the more
you engage it, the truer and more powerful it reveals itself to be.
But if you want to experience the true transformative power of the
Bhagavad-Gita, you will at some point need to surrender to it. To simply
open your mind and heart, let it in, and allow it to flow through you
and back out into the world.
Once you do that, you will realize — not in an intellectual way, but on
a deep, soul’s level — exactly how astonishingly powerful these ancient
spiritual secrets really are. They don’t merely broaden your perspective
or stimulate your imagination. They change your life in real, concrete
ways that you’ll find evidence of every day.
In Session One of The Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita, I relate the amazing
chain of events that led to my joining up with Nightingale-Conant on
this program. It’s a wonderful tale of synchronicity in action — and a
perfect example of the effortlessly magical way good things happen and
life starts “working” once you relax and surrender to the truth and
wisdom of this beautiful, timeless text.
